Three rooms of a house

Majlis, Diwan and Qasr are the spaces an Emirati home receives guests in, scaling from the sitting room to the palace. The boxes are named for them because that is what they are for.

The sitting room

Majlis

The smallest of the three, and the one most often given. Four moulded bonbons over a bed of salted bark — enough to be a gesture, small enough to be a habit.

The long gathering

Diwan

Sixteen bonbons across four rows, with the bark laid loose beside them. This is the box that holds a room for an evening.

The house at its fullest

Qasr

Thirty bonbons in six columns, and a full field of salted bark. The complete range, in one tray, in the order the atelier intends it to be eaten.
